HYATT REGENCY: I PLEDGE TO BOYCOTT!
The Hyatt Regency in Buffalo, New York has engaged in union-busting activity.
Because of this, Hyatt Workers United launched an official boycott of the hotel on October 20th. I pledge that I will not patronize this hotel until the hotel settles the NLRB Complaint issued against them. Though there may not be a picket line 24/7, I will not enter the hotel until further notice from Hyatt Workers United.
I consent to receive emails with campaign updates and calls to action as an ally.
The Buffalo Hyatt Regency is starting to face the consequences.
Many unions, progressive organizations and other labor-friendly groups use the Buffalo Hyatt Regency for conferences, conventions, and trips. However, as this Teamster shares with us, many groups will not be staying at a hotel that doesn’t respect workers’ rights.
Learn More About Our Campaign…
Last fall, we attempted to organize a union in order to have a voice on the job. We work hard to provide top-quality service to our guests, but in order to do that, we need to be able to advocate for ourselves and make our workplace better.
Unfortunately, management responded with a vicious anti-union campaign. They fired, threatened, and ostracized union supporters. Many were fired, and many more were pushed to quit as a result of management abuse and mistreatment. Without hope for a fair election, we pulled our petition.
This summer, you will find us picketing outside the hotel!
That’s because Region 3 of the National Labor Relations Board just issued an official Complaint against the Hyatt, calling on the hotel to end their union-busting and reinstate the fired workers. They are even pursuing a rare “Gissel” bargaining order, requiring the hotel to recognize our union and bargain with us.
However, the legal process is lengthy and uncertain. When an employer like ours refuses to recognize our right to organize, it is ultimately up to us and our community to hold them accountable. We hope to see you standing with us!
